What is the Balboa Bay Club?
The Balboa Bay Club is a private membership club located on 15.8 acres of waterfront property in Newport Beach. Known by it’s members as the “BBC”, it offers the very finest in hospitality, dining, entertainment, sports, health and wellness and more. Proud of its rich tradition, the BBC truly epitomizes up-scale family life in Orange County.

Is the Balboa Bay Club a Member Owned Club?
No. The BBC is owned by a local Newport Beach Family. The club is operated by a management company, the Pacific Hospitality Group. PHG operates other California resort properties including The Meritage Resort and Spa, Estancia La Jolla Hotel and Spa, and Balboa Bay Resort. BBC members receive discounts at these and other locations.

How do I apply for membership at the Balboa Bay club?
Applicants that are invited to apply must complete a membership application and submit it for approval along with the membership initiation fee. Applications will be processed and submitted to the Membership Committee for approval. If approved, the applicant will be notified and may schedule their new member orientation with the membership team. New members will not be permitted to use the club until they have been enrolled.

What facilities are available to members of the BBC?
Club members enjoy a state of the art fitness center, full service men’s and women’s spa, two sparkling Olympic-sized swimming pools, the safe haven of their own private beach, basketball and racquetball courts all conveniently accessed through a complimentary valet parking service. Members also enjoy dining options at several different locations including the more casual summer atmosphere of Henry’s Bistro and the more formal Bay Club Grill and First Cabin Restaurant.

What other Privileges are offered to Members?
BBC members enjoy over 200 special events throughout the year. These events include the summer concert series, holiday boat parade (literally in our back yard), numerous member mixers, nightly entertainment as well as food and drink discounts at all of the venues on property. A variety of water sports such as Paddle Boarding and kayaking are also available. The BBC provides youth of all ages the opportunity to participate in swimming lessons, swim team, basketball camps, and themed day camps.

What types of Memberships are currently offered?
The BBC provides several options of membership depending upon your individual circumstances. Full, Single, Associate and Corporate memberships are all available.

Who is included as part of a family membership?
All dependent under the age of 25 years old and living at home are welcome to use and enjoy the Club. After the dependents 25th birthday, he/she can take advantage of the Associate Membership Program which allows flexibility in payment of an initiation fee over time and free of interest.

Are there monthly dues associated with membership?
Yes, members are responsible for the payment of monthly dues. The specific amount depends on membership category. The current dues for a full membership are $285 / month.

Is there a Food and Beverage minimum at the BBC? No.

How are monthly dues determined and do they increase?
Monthly dues are determined by the club and depend on several factors. Because of the varying nature of costs, labor laws, wage rates, utilities and so forth, monthly dues typically increase from time to time. Dues are established for each membership year in January.

Are Members of the BBC subject to operating assessments? No.

Are guests of Members welcome to enjoy the Club as well?
Members are welcome to bring their guests to enjoy the BBC. Guests are always welcome, when accompanied by a member, at any of the dining outlets around the Club. Members are responsible for the payment of a guest fee depending upon what other parts of the club they and their guests choose to experience.

Does the Club anticipate renovating any of the facilities?
The Club anticipates renovating portions of the club to preserve its contemporary feel and continue in keeping with the lifestyles of our members. Members will be notified of such renovations as they are planned.

Can a current BBC member arrange to transfer their membership to someone else?
Yes, certain memberships can be transferred to a child within the immediate family upon the payment of a transfer fee.

How are BBC Members notified of Club events?
The BBC is proud to provide a members-only website which allows easy access to club calendars detailing the many events held at the Club. Members can make reservations to attend functions and events with the ease of the online system. The BBC also provides members with a monthly copy of The Bay Window magazine, which is the oldest magazine in Orange County. The Bay Window includes many features designed to inform and enlighten each and every BBC member.

Is there a Junior, or Associate Membership offered?
Yes. Associate Memberships are available to those persons under the age of 40 (and their families) to defer payment of a portion of the initiation fee. More details can be obtained from the Membership Office.

How will new members meet other members after they join?
The Club will host space, or a table for new members at all social events as well as hosting a quarterly new member reception. These programs provide a great setting for new members to meet one another as well as members of the Board of Governors and the Club Management Team.

Do members have privileges at other facilities in the area?
Our valued members of the BBC are able to enjoy reciprocal privileges at over 185 clubs around the world. Many of our members have found this to be a tremendous value during business travel and vacations alike.

Do Members enjoy benefits at the BBC Resort?
Yes. Members of the Club receive special rates on club overnight rooms, discounts on meeting rooms, food and beverage discounts, retail outlets, etc.
